No, underlayment is not required for locking luxury vinyl flooring installation. Underlayment is optional. We recommend installation with Sentinel Protect Plus Underlayment. Please follow the directions in the installation instructions.

03. Why should I work from multiple boxes during my luxury vinyl flooring installation?

To create a more random and natural appearance in the floor, it is highly recommended to work from multiple boxes during installation.

04. In what rooms can I install luxury vinyl flooring?

Luxury vinyl can be installed on all home levels and grades. Please follow the product installation instructions.

05. What type of flooring works best with heavy rolling loads?

Glue down vinyl floors are recommended when heavy rolling loads or fixed objects are involved. Floating locking floors are not recommended in areas with frequent, heavy rolling loads.

06. Is an expansion gap required for luxury vinyl installation?

Yes, an expansion gap is required for luxury vinyl flooring installation. Typically, locking luxury vinyl floors can be installed up to 30 feet x 30 feet before an expansion transition is needed. Please follow the directions in the installation instructions.

07. Should luxury vinyl floors be acclimated?

Yes, luxury vinyl floors may require 48 hours of acclimation time in the installation room prior to beginning the flooring installation. Please follow the directions in the installation instructions.

09. What is NuCore Waterproof Flooring with Cork Backing?

NuCore is a rigid core luxury vinyl floor, consisting of a beautiful and durable top layer of luxury vinyl adhered to a stable, rigid, and waterproof core.  The pre-attached natural cork pad backing offers superb noise resistance attributes versus traditional laminates or locking rigid vinyl planks without an attached pad.

10. Does NuCore look realistic to real hardwood?

Yes, NuCore is a rigid core luxury vinyl that looks and feels like authentic hardwood or tile and are available in a smooth, high gloss, handscraped or textured finish. When installing, we recommend to mix planks or tiles from several boxes to achieve a blended natural look.

11. Where can I install NuCore?

NuCore can be installed on all grade levels of the home. NuCore has a durable 22mil thick surface wear layer and can be used in in heavy-wear residential and commercial spaces. See installation instructions and warranty for details.

Yes, NuCore moldings include Quarter Round, T-Molding, Overlapping Reducer and Overlapping Stair Nose.

14. Does NuCore waterproof flooring support a heathy home?

NuCore styles are GREENGUARD Gold Certified which is a third party certification for low VOC emissions. NuCore styles are not made with ortho-phthalates or recycled content. NuCore features a natural cork pad backing.

17. What are the benefits of the cork backing on NuCore Waterproof Flooring?

NuCore's hypoallergenic natural cork pad backing provides more cushion and softness underfoot than rigid core vinyl with foam backing or no backing. For even further improved sound reduction and softness underfoot, use with Sentinel Protect Plus Underlayment approved for use with attached pad flooring.

18. Does NuCore installation require transition molding for expansion of the floating floor?

NuCore can be installed in spaces up to 6400 SF, 80 feet x 80 feet, with no expansion moldings needed. This allows for the best looking seamless finished floor.

19. Can NuCore be wet mopped? Or steam mopped?

Yes, this brand is easy to clean and can be wet mopped, jet mopped, vacuumed or steam mopped. Please see the installation instructions.

20. How long can NuCore resist water?

NuCore is 100% waterproof from the top down and is not affected by moisture or humidity. While the product is waterproof, it is not intended to be a moisture barrier. Please see the installation instructions and warranty for details.

21. Does the subfloor need to be leveled prior to installing NuCore?

Yes, the subfloor must be clean and level to 5mm (3/16”) within a 10 foot span. Please see the installation instructions for more information.

22. Can NuCore be installed over existing flooring?

Yes, NuCore can be installed over many existing hard surface flooring types. The existing floors still have to meet the levelness requirements, which is no more than a 3/16” difference in a 10 foot span. Please see the NuCore installation instructions for further details.

23. Do the grout lines on my existing tile flooring need to be leveled before installing NuCore over it?

When installing over existing tile floors, any grout line greater than 1/8” should be filled in with an approved levelling compound.

24. Is there an acclimation period prior to installing NuCore?

In most cases, NuCore will not require acclimation waiting time prior to installation. Please see the installation instructions for more information.

25. Can NuCore be glued down?

Yes, NuCore can be glued down using an adhesive approved for cork flooring installations. An appropriate adhesive is Sikabond T-21 Polyurethane Adhesive.

26. What is DuraLux and DuraLux Performance?

DuraLux Performance is waterproof rigid core luxury vinyl flooring, with a pre-attached antimicrobial IXPE foam pad underlayment. The planks have a rigid stone and vinyl based core that makes it extremely durable, scratch and dent resistant. DuraLux has a similar construction, but without a foam underlayment attached.

DuraLux Performance is pet friendly with planks that are stain and abrasion resistant. This rigid core luxury vinyl flooring will resist permanent staining caused by pet urine when thoroughly cleaned immediately and not allowed to dry.
