The sound absorption test is ASTM C423-23, "Standard Test Method for Sound Absorption
and Sound Absorption Coefficients by the Reverberation Room Method", and was performed
for us by Intertek B&C. The test methodology and results in detail are attached.
Key numbers from the report are the area of the room @ 234 m3, or 8,263 cubic feet and the
coverage area of the panels @ 6.69 m2 or 72 square feet...approximately 5 panels. This test
results in a 45% reduction in in-room sound with the product mounted directly on a wall.
Using a 2” frame/substructure between panel and wall increases the sound absorption to
70%.
There are two options: a) the outlet remains in the same position and gets covered by the panel's depth, or b) have a certified electrician move the outlet ¾ inch forward with a junction box extender to align with the surface of the panel
The wood strips are glued to the backer.
Install panels from left to right, with the flush edge of the panel on the left of the first panel. Align the outermost slat edge of the next panel to be installed with equal spacing of 15mm at the top and bottom to the slat of the previously installed panel. The width of the extended felt on the first panel will accommodate any minor adjustments needed to keep slat spacing consistent from panel to panel
Important Note for Electric Fireplaces: If you are using an electric fireplace, it is crucial to
ensure that the heat output of the fireplace does not exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Fireplace Heat Variation: The heat output of fireplaces can vary significantly. Therefore, it is
essential for the installer or the customer to determine the potential temperature range
generated by the specific fireplace model.
