Brooke @brooknix12, former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, traded her pom-poms for tools to make her DIY dreams come true. Before the remodel, the kitchen was standard with dark cabinets, countertops, and an outdated backsplash and floor tile. The kitchen gets a lot of use in this busy home with two young boys, so Brooke set out to lighten it up and create a space that’s more personal and fresh.
"Honestly, a lot of the homes around here are pretty cookie cutter. I tend to be more of a trendsetter. I’m not afraid to push the needle a little bit and try something new,” said Brooke.
HydroShield® Plus wood-based laminate was the perfect solution for the space because it offered durability and functionality for the family. She selected the shade Castlewood Oak to complement their beachy style.
“When I saw HydroShield® Plus and read it’s waterproof and dent resistant… I knew right from there, this is the flooring for our family,” said Brooke.
Not to mention, the tight locking planks made this project a breeze for Brooke and her husband to tackle in a weekend. With the correct underlayment, they installed this laminate on the existing tile without demolition saving time and cost.
To complete the look, Brooke selected a large format 24-inch by 48-inch tile to install as a backsplash. The Maximo® Giovanni Verde Polished Porcelain Tile achieved the look of a large marble slab with a more DIY-friendly scale. It’s dramatic, lightweight, and seamless.
