The Lost-n-Found Youth nonprofit was founded in 2011 to support displaced LGBTQ+ youth in the Atlanta area. Just down the road from a local Floor & Decor store, its resource center provides career, health, and wellness education and programming to lead young people on a path toward independence and success. Lost-n-Found Youth’s Floor & Decor neighbors donated and installed performance flooring to provide the organization a lasting space to serve LGBTQ+ youth for years to come.
The Switch from Carpet to Luxury Vinyl
Removing the carpet in its resource center was a must-have for Lost-n-Found Youth. The carpet in the 800-square-foot center had become stained and worn over the years with its year-round programming and operations. With the resource center’s day-to-day demands, it needed easy-to-clean flooring with resistance to scratches, dents, and stains. The DuraLux Performance Luxury Vinyl donated by Floor & Decor delivers on those flooring needs and is also waterproof to protect against everyday wear from high traffic throughout the kitchen and beyond.
Before, After, and Beyond
Replacing carpet with Floor & Decor’s performance flooring made an immediate difference for Lost-n-Found Youth and the people visiting its resource center. “The new flooring elevated the experience,” says Randall Burks, Director of Development at Lost-n-Found Youth. “It made the team members feel like they were in a more professional environment.” The center now enjoys performance flooring that is easy to maintain, brightens the space in style, and in Randall’s words: “It just completely changed everything about the organization.”
