Real People, Real Projects®: Grant & Little Make Warm Spaces for Cool People

By Floor & Decor

Ashley Chavis and Rebecca Schultz, founders of the design studio Grant & Little, have built their business around adding fresh whimsy to tired spaces.

"We love to root our designs in history, but there's always a little wink to the unexpected as well. I think we feel like we've done our job when you look at a space and you don't know if it's always been that way or if it's fresh and new,” said Chavis.

That balance — reverent and a little rebellious — runs through their studio and every project they take on. Here's a look inside Grant & Little's world, and how Floor & Decor helps them create it.

A Trusted Partnership

For a studio juggling multiple client projects at once, reliable sourcing is as important as good design instincts.

In stock and ready to go

“We can run in, grab samples whenever we need them. Everything's in stock. We’re not waiting on backorders. We’re not receiving damaged shipments. It really allows our projects to run on time and on budget,” said Chavis.

Variety meets value

"I love the selection. There's something for everyone in there. Every time we go into Floor & Decor, we're able to find several pieces that would work for each project,” said Schultz.

A Bathroom with a Fresh, Funky Outlook

For their Fantasy Island project, Grant & Little worked with a young couple whose bathroom didn't match their fun, expressive style. The fix: White Stack Porcelain Mosaic tile, a thin-lined mosaic that let them play with direction and pattern.

Using this versatile tile, Grant & Little was able to follow the beautiful curve of the shower arch to create an uninterrupted line from floor to shower ceiling.

Two Colors, One Signature Look

At their Sydney Street retreat, the duo used a classic penny tile in two colors, layered to create an intricate, custom floor pattern unique to the space.

Beauty in the Details

"By playing with the two different colors of penny tile, we were able to create the intricate little details. We took beautiful classic materials and used them in an unexpected way,” said Chavis.

The creativity didn’t stop there. Grant & Little paired Zellige Perla polished ceramic with Zellige Verde glossy ceramic tile to create a checkerboard pattern on the shower walls.

And for the final touch, they used Thassos Green Maverick polished marble mosaic on the shower floor and niche.

Bring Your Own Whimsy Home

Grant & Little's work is proof that classic and unexpected aren't opposites — they're a formula. And they trust Floor & Decor to be a part of that.

"Having Floor and Decor as a design partner is a huge asset to Grant and Little,” says Chavis, “They're local. They're affordable. They're extremely helpful in terms of customer service.”
