On a search to find and renovate a Victorian home, real estate broker and preservationist Jennifer found herself in Bartlett, Texas. Though unable to find what she hoped to in the small town, two of its local historic properties, a national bank and church, immediately caught Jennifer’s attention. The decision to buy both properties and transform them into livable, modern spaces made itself.
Restoration of the Bank
Jennifer’s restoration of the bank, just around the corner from the church, was rooted in classic, clean design. She incorporated white subway and penny tiles to refresh the space with retro style elements, reminiscent of past cornerstone home trends.
Her inclusion of these trends in the bank allowed for an updated look that honored its presence in Bartlett from years past.
Renovation of the Church
As renovations began in the church, an unexpected source of inspiration revealed itself to Jennifer. She found original wallpaper from the 1890s while removing wood paneling, which provided the palette for the church’s renovated tile and paint colors.
Both church bathrooms were finished with blue subway tile, and the shower was accented with penny tile. The penny tile was included in the kitchen as a cohesive element to tie the restored church’s design together.
While working to preserve as many of the buildings’ original features as she could, Jennifer turned to Floor & Decor’s Design Services to achieve looks that offer modern comforts and style for guests staying at her new Airbnb properties.
“I knew I had very specific things that we needed to choose to be able to make this whole project come together and be cohesive,” Jennifer said. “We turn to Floor & Decor because of the wide selection and the design services.”
The effect of Jennifer’s historic restorations using Floor & Decor was twofold. It preserved two properties with updated, vintage style and made contemporary living in two of Bartlett’s historic spaces possible unlike ever before.
